Background

The Oktoberfest celebration we know today originated in 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig took Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildberghausen as his bride in Munich, Germany. A special beer was brewed for the event and thus the lore of Oktoberfest began.

While the actual beer served in the modern Oktoberfest celebration is more along the lines of a Helles Lager, the more historic interpretation of the style is an amber colored lager with some malt flavor with a crisp finish.
