Daniel O’Brien has created the Japan Series out of a passion for learning and intentionally filled his novels with Japanese cultural and historical points most of which he experienced personally or learned through a masters degree and teaching in high school. Each novel carries a theme such as “connections”, “friendship,” and “exploration”.

The Japan Series is a trilogy in which Jimmy Swensen, a social studies teacher from Minnesota who lived in Japan for several decades, suddenly finds himself immersed in a series of mysterious events.
